I mean Dodge dealers are the best...and while you are there, take a look around the lot. I am positve that you can get a realy fine used Neon for around six thousand or so...while you'll be putting yet another five or six hundred or so into that old Neon...come on, work the numbers, it makes no sense to keep the old Neon. I went through this recently with a Neon. Got an awesome deal on one. You are worth it. Treat yourself right. Take it to the dealer and have them check it out. If the coolant level is low then obviously the Gage will not read correctly and since the idle speed on newer vehicles is controlled by a computer the computer reads the temperature of the engine thru a sensor on the engine so as to control the idle speed. Note tho that there are 2 different sensors one for the Temp. Gage and one is used strictly for the computer but if low on anti freeze both will be inaccurate. You could either need it completely changed or cleaned the valve out. Or go to an Auto parts and let them run your codes and see what that comes up as. The check engine light will flash with the number for the code. Such as if it flashes twice then that would be the number 2 and so on.
