does changing engine oil just before a smog test help to pass?

my engine oil is somewhat thick and dirty as I don’t drive this car very much. I haven’t changed the oil in over a year, but I don’t put many miles on the car. (maybe 1000 in 2 years)

It certainly could help if there is some gasoline in crank case & your hydrocarbon readings are high.
Change it at least every 3mos.. MY god it still goes bad. as for the smog test.. I don’t know our air here is clean so we do not need to test the cars for it.
It would be smart to change it prior to the smog test, but by doing so, doesn’t mean the vehicle will pass.
Changing the oil most likely wont effect the smog test much, but the oil should be changed anyway since over time as the temp changes, condensation builds up on the inside of the engine, so the oil should be changed even in vehicles that sit for long periods.
